Church History
We invite you to make yourself at home at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. Become part of the church today and be included in its history tomorrow.
- Our church was established in the mid-60’s and built on a 5.5 acres in 1981. The church grew with the north Suffolk community and added an educational wing in 1993. With the continued growth of the area in recent years, the church undertook a major building project that doubled the square footage of the facility. A new 350 seat sanctuary, an atrium/fellowship hall, classrooms, music room and a commercial kitchen were dedicated in the fall of 2002. The church hosts Tidewater Pastoral Counseling Service at St. Andrew and St. Andrew Preschool, just two of our community outreach efforts.
- St. Andrew Preschool is over 10 years old and has weekday classes for 2 1/2 year olds to 4 year old children. Registration is in mid-March.
- A long standing feature of the church is the 2nd Sunday Lunch, a covered-dish meal following the 11:00 service. Visitors are always welcome to stay for the meal.
- During the week, the church offers many opportunities to enjoy fellowship, study the faith, rehearse music, volunteer in the community, help the hungry, and grow in spirit as contemporary Christians. Activities are geared to a variety of ages and interests. Our Wednesday Evening Program, Kirk Night, includes dinner and many activities for all ages. (See the Christian Education page for more information on Kirk Night.) Visitors are always welcome to participate in church activities.
- We offer new member orientation on a quarterly timetable. The Journey With Us gathering offers an overview of local church and denominational information. For more information on membership, please contact the pastor.
